INCIDENT RESPONSE
Determining the Danger
First responders to disaster need to get to work fast. If there is any danger of airborne pathogens, chemicals, and particulates in the vicinity, rapid detection and analysis are a must.
Advantages
The Sceptor OMNI™ 3000 gives first responders just the tool they need for fast collection of air samples on site. It offers several advantages over conventional air sampling methods:
- Portability: The OMNI 3000 can be carried into and out of an affected area by a single person
- Self-powered: The OMNI can run off its own rechargeable batteries when an emergency has knocked out regular AC power
- Fast sampling: A 300-liter/minute rate for representative sampling of an area in a matter of minutes and capability to extend sampling to several hours if needed
- High concentration: Samples are concentrated hundreds of times higher than with other methods
- Representative samples: Unlike wipes and swabs, which only gather what has dropped onto a surface, the OMNI actually samples the air
Among other on-site applications, Sceptor air samplers were used to check for the presence of mold spores and other aerosol toxins in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.
Field-Proven
Sceptor air samplers are the gold standard in government use. Many government, military, and civilian agencies rely on Sceptor samplers for all their testing.
For example, the National Guard 1st Civil Support Team (CST), Wellesley, MA, uses Sceptor samplers virtually every month for event monitoring and in response to “white powder” calls.
